SDIRC Achieves 96% Graduation Rate

Vero Beach, FL, January 23, 2024– Yesterday, Florida's 2022-2023 high school graduation rates were released. We are pleased to share that our district has continued to show progress with this key educational outcome for students. For the 2022-2023 school year, our district not only achieved a graduation rate of 96% but earned a state ranking of #3 out of 67 Florida districts. When our ACHIEVE 2025 District Strategic Plan was originally established, our district’s 2018-2019 graduation rate was 89% (State Ranking – 20th), with our current graduation rate showing an increase of seven (7) percentage points and an increase of seventeen (17) state rankings. 

 

Superintendent of Schools, David K. Moore, Ed.D., stated, “Equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to ultimately graduate is work that starts in early childhood, with our educators contributing to the outcome at all stages of development. Below are some key highlights, as well as information regarding our relative standing in comparison to other districts.  

  • For the 2022-2023 school year, with SDIRC's 96% graduation rate, the SDIRC maintained its #1 ranking for graduation rates in comparison to other districts on the Treasure Coast.  

 

  • Our District not only falls in the top three (3) Florida districts for high school graduation rates, but also has outperformed the state graduation rate for the 13th year in a row. The table below provides additional graduation rate comparisons to surrounding/comparable districts.

  • Our graduation rate would not have been achieved without the hard work of both of our high schools. Specifically, Vero Beach High School increased their graduation rate, moving from 96% in 2021-2022 to 97% in 2022-2023. Sebastian River High School also improved their graduation rate, moving from 96% in 2021-2022 to 98% in 2022-2023. 


  • With regard to graduation rates by race/ethnicity, for 2022-2023 our district achieved the following graduation rates: Black - 90%; Hispanic - 98%; White - 96%. The graduation rate for Black students has increased by nine (9) percentage points since the 2018-2019 school year, while the graduation rate for Hispanic students has increased by fifteen (15) percentage points when compared to the 2018-2019 school year.  


  • Our graduation rate for 2022-2023 for students with disabilities is 91% and for students with economic disadvantage is 94%.
