The School District of Indian River County Announces Positive COVID-19 Case at Vero Beach High School

Vero Beach, FL, August 28, 2020– This afternoon, our school district received information confirming that a student at Vero Beach High School tested positive for COVID-19. Forty-six students were identified by District health officials as meeting close contact criteria with the student who tested positive, and will be required to quarantine for 14 days, and monitor for symptoms, prior to returning to campus. All forty-six students’ families have been notified of this information by individual phone calls from district officials. All Vero Beach High School families and staff members were notified by School Messenger call of the confirmation of the positive case on campus, the number of students required to quarantine, and that all students required to quarantine had been notified. Custodial services are disinfecting and sanitizing all areas of campus to ensure a safe and healthy environment for the return of students and staff on Monday, August 31st.
