SDIRC Announces Positive COVID-19 Case at FES

Vero Beach, FL, September 2, 2020 - Today, our school district received information confirming that one student at Fellsmere Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19. Seventeen students and one district staff member were identified by the Department of Health, in collaboration with district health officials, as meeting close contact criteria with the student who tested positive. These seventeen students and one district staff member will be required to quarantine for 14 days, and monitor for symptoms, prior to returning to campus. The families of the seventeen students required to quarantine have been contacted and notified of this information by individual phone calls from district officials. All Fellsmere Elementary School families and staff members were notified by School Messenger call confirming the positive case on campus, the number of individuals required to quarantine, and that the families of students required to quarantine had been notified. Custodial services are disinfecting and sanitizing all areas of campus to ensure a safe and healthy environment for the return of students and staff members tomorrow, Thursday, September 3rd.
