Vero Beach, FL, September 14, 2020 – Today, our school district received information confirming that one non-school-based support staff member tested positive for COVID-19. The Department of Health completed a case investigation and contact tracing, which identified one student as meeting close contact criteria with the support staff member who tested positive. This student will be required to quarantine, and monitor for symptoms, prior to returning to campus. The family of the student required to quarantine has been contacted and notified of this information by an individual phone call from a district official. All families and staff members of Sebastian River Middle School and Sebastian River High School, which were schools supported by the staff member who tested positive, were notified by School Messenger call confirming the positive support staff case, quarantine information, and that the family of the student required to quarantine had been notified. Custodial services are disinfecting and sanitizing all areas of both campuses to ensure a safe and healthy environment for the return of students and staff members tomorrow, Tuesday, September 15th.
