Vero Beach, FL, March 29, 2021–We are excited to share that our Practical Nursing program at Treasure Coast Technical College has been ranked as the #1 Practical Nursing program in Florida by Nursing Schools Almanac (2021)*. Nursing Schools Almanac has compiled a database of student performance on the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). They analyzed this data over several years to calculate each program’s NCLEX pass rate among first-time test-takers and used this metric to rank Florida’s LPN programs, from the strongest to weakest, placing TCTC in first place.

Christi Shields, Principal of Treasure Coast Technical College, said, “I am extremely proud of this achievement! Treasure Coast Technical College Practical Nursing staff is remarkable at producing graduates that are skilled, professional, and proficient as indicated by the 98.3% pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN). I commend them for their hard work and effort in obtaining this well-deserved ranking by Nursing Schools Almanac. I am proud to say most of our graduates work locally in medical and assisted living facilities fulfilling a need in our community. If you are interested in the program, applications are being accepted for the next Practical Nursing start in January 2022. Please visit our website for details"

According to Nursing Schools Almanac, to work as a practical nurse in Florida, “…aspiring LPNs must first complete a state-approved training program. The vast majority of LPN programs require 12 to 18 months of study, awarding a certificate or diploma upon completion. A few Florida schools instead offer a two-year associate’s degree in practical nursing. Prelicensure LPN programs are offered at over 150 campuses across the state, including Pasco-Hernando State College, Mercy Hospital, and the Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations.”
