Frankens Energy Donates 100 Tickets To Dodgertown Elementary Students

Vero Beach, FL, April 13, 2018—Frankens Energy, new owners of the Indian River Bio-Refinery site in Vero Beach, presented 100 students at Dodgertown Elementary School with complimentary tickets for the Jackie Robinson Celebration game, being played this Sunday at Holman Stadium. Frankens Energy is one of the signature sponsors of the event being hosted by the United Way of Indian River County and Historic Dodgertown. The tickets presented to the students at Dodgertown Elementary provide admission and a food voucher for the students and their families. The students chosen to receive this reward were hand selected by their teachers for their demonstration of exemplary character and academic achievement.

Jeff Petersen, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management Advisor and United Way of IRC board member, worked with childhood friend Tiffany Justice, Indian River County School Board member, to help make this opportunity a reality for Dodgertown students. During the presentation assembly on April 10th, Dr. Mark Rendell, SDIRC Superintendent and board member of the United Way of IRC, took the opportunity to speak with students about the significance of Jackie Robinson’s life, not only as a baseball player but as a true American hero. He also shared with the “Little Dodgers” the history of the Dodger baseball franchise and how their school received the name of Dodgertown Elementary.

Aretha Vernette, Principal at Dodgertown Elementary, stated, “Our Dodgertown Elementary students have been fortunate to enjoy the support of both local and distant communities. We are so grateful to Mr. Alain Castro, Rob McKeown, Jason Kerrigan and the entire Frankens Energy team for gifting our students with tickets and meal vouchers for the Jackie Robinson game. This allows our students the opportunity to enjoy a game and learn more about Historic Dodgertown and Mr. Robinson. We welcome Frankens Energy as a new business partner in Vero Beach!”

Alain Castro of Frankens Energy, said “We are grateful for this opportunity to bring some levity and fun into the lives of these hard-working children. Just seeing the smiles and excitement of these kids the other day at the school was tremendously uplifting to all of us that were fortunate enough to attend. We look forward to continuing to work with the school district in the near future, to continue contributing to the lives and education of the youth of Indian River County.“

Frankens Energy plans to convert the new Bio-Refinery site to Florida’s first industrial eco-district, harmoniously integrating a series of businesses, all focused on nurturing and supporting environmental sustainability, employment, and education within the local community. The production of renewable fuels and electricity from biogas may be part of the planned eco-district in the future.
