New Student Enrollment

New Student Online Enrollment Process

1. On the SDIRC main webpage www.indianriverschools.org  in the ‘I Want To’ box select “Add Student or Register for Focus Account”   
 2. First you must set up a Focus Parent Portal. Scroll Down and Click on the Orange tab “I DO NOT have an Account Registered on the Parent Portal. Fill out the correct items and click submit.
 
 
 3.  Once you have a parent account click on the Orange tab “ I have an Account Registered on the Parent Portal but would like to ADD A CHILD.  
 4. For a brand new student to Indian River County click “I would like to APPLY FOR ENROLLMENT for a new child.  
 5. You will be asked to enter your students information. The social security numbers are not required, to skip that step use “0000” as the four digits. When complete, click “Add Student”  
 6.This will take you to the Apply For Enrollment Application. There are 9 pages in the application. All pages must be complete, and page 9 must have a digital signature before the enrollment is complete.  
 7. 

Once you hit submit and finish on page 9, please go to the school to complete any enrollment items specific to your zoned school. If you were not able to upload any enrollment documents, please bring them with you to the school.

 

 

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

All Students

  • Child’s birth certificate
  • Social security number (optional) The collection of social security numbers for enrollment in the School District of Indian River County is optional.  However, there may be certain processes that occur that require a social security number.  Please see the PDF entitled SDIRC SNN Statement for possible uses of the student social security number. *
  • Proof of address*

*Please visit School Board Policy 5112 for a list of documents accepted for verification of address. If you don't have the required documents, please fill out the Verification of Address form.

ESE Students

  • If your child is an ESE student please bring/upload a copy of the child’s IEP (Individual Education Plan). These documents are important to facilitate proper placement in a school or class.

Middle & High School Students

  • If you are enrolling your child in a secondary school, please bring/upload your child’s latest report card and FSA scores or achievement test results or any other testing and/or assessment you may have.

REQUIRED PHYSICAL, IMMUNIZATIONS, AND EMERGENCY INFORMATION

Students must comply with physical and immunization requirements and parents/guardians are required to complete an Emergency Contact Information for School Health and Wellness form for each student being enrolled. Please visit our Health Services website for forms and requirements. 

IMMEDIATE ENROLLMENT FOR HOMELESS CHILDREN AND YOUTH

The District will provide services to homeless students that are comparable to other students in the District, including:

A. transportation services;

B. public preschool programs and other educational programs and services for which the homeless student meets eligibility criteria including:

  1. programs for children with disabilities
  2. programs for English learners (ELs) (i.e., students with Limited English Proficiency (LEP));
  3. programs in career and technical education;
  4. programs for gifted and talented students;
  5. school nutrition programs; and
  6. before - and after-school programs.

Immediate Enrollment

The District has an obligation to remove barriers to the enrollment and retention of homeless students. If a school other than the student’s school of origin is chosen on the basis of a best interest determination, the homeless student must be immediately enrolled, even if the student does not have the documentation typically necessary for enrollment, such as immunization and other required health records, proof of residency, proof of guardianship, birth certificate, or previous academic records. The homeless student must also be enrolled immediately regardless of whether the student missed application or enrollment deadlines during the period of homelessness, fails to meet uniform or dress code requirements, or has outstanding fines or fees.
